Highfields State School RI & Chaplaincy Prayer & Praise Points

An interesting read by Fiona Cran about RI and the future of it in schools is attached below.

Praise for:

  • The provision of a chaplain, Andrew Bell, and for those who support him.
  • For the ongoing delivery of CRI lessons during Term 1.
  • Faithfulness, strength and passion shown by CRI Instructors
  • Growing knowledge of Bible stories and growing faith of many students.
  • Relief Instructors – Lorrie Robinson (all Year 2 classes Term 1), Lyn Cain (relieving 2A and 2B for Sandy Term 2) and Janelle Priman (relieved Di for a week and, from start of Term 2, taking on 1C)
  • Support from local churches in the way of financial donations
  • IGNITE and the strong CRI input.

Pray for:

  • Chaplaincy and RI Committees.  That church, parents and community members will accept the invitation to serve on these and through them have input into the programs.
  • For Sandy Whybird (wrist fracture, cataract removals) and Lorraine Petersen (recovery from operation).  Pray for healing for both.  Also some relief for Lorraine.
  • Safety and a ‘sense of holiday’ for students and staff as they go on holidays.
  • Child Protection and Code of Conduct training on 19 May.
  • Wisdom in organization of in-service/s at Highfields State School
  • Work of CRI Queensland members and RIQA committee.
  • Lessening of pressure on Class teachers with increases in non-attender numbers and with National Curriculum demands
  • Children’s and youth ministries in Highfields area
  • The local schools – administration, teachers, students & families
  • The RI teachers – as they prepare and teach week, creating good relationships with the staff and students

The Project

What drives us here at the Project is a heart to see the restoration of true humanity. We believe that true humanity was lost at the fall when Adam and Eve sinned. Adam and Eve were originally members of God’s family. They lived in His world and were like Him (made in His image), were oriented to Him (in worship) and centred all of their life upon Him (coram deo – they happily lived life under His gaze). When sin entered, these aspects of humanity (along with many others) were corrupted or lost. Yet the good news is that God has been on a mission since the very first sin to redeem and restore humanity to a ‘better than original’ state. The whole Old Testament points to a time where Jesus (the true human) would come and give His life on a Roman cross so that those who had become less than human could be cleansed and remade in His image. The pathway to God and the pathway to true humanity are through the sacrifice of an innocent victim on a Roman cross.

We would love you to come and join us on this journey or just come and visit us on Sunday mornings at 8:30am or 10:30am.
We meet in the Toowoomba Christian College Auditorium, New England Highway Highfields, Queensland.
